Tremblant Weekend

by jc

This past weekend 15 of my best friends and I headed up to Mont Tremblant for some fun on the slopes – hence the inactivity on here as of late.  With the penthouse rented in one of the nicest condo complexes in the village, we were bound to have a good time.

Most of the group headed up first thing Friday morning.  Petey had to work the morning classes at Greco so I waited around for him and was able to squeeze in a good workout before the weekend of debauchery began.

We were on the road by 9 am with Freshii breakfast wraps and a Bridgehead bran muffin (so yummy) to keep us company.  The new highway makes the drive a lot quicker and easier so we were on the slopes shortly after 11 am.

The snow conditions were fantastic thanks to the 10 cm of fresh that they received on Wednesday.  The temps were warm and there was very little wind – a rare occurrence for Tremblant.  We skied almost until last chair then it was time to check out our digs for the weekend.

The condo was palatial.  We were definitely not going to be roughing it.  We spent the first evening relaxing in the hot tub and playing Cards Against Humanity.

On Saturday Pete and I made use of the free “first tracks” passes that came along with the condo.  They basically allow you to start skiing 30 minutes before anyone else so that you can enjoy the fresh corduroy grooming.  We had never done this before at Trembs and it was SO MUCH FUN!

This ski day was lazier than Friday as it was a bit colder and windier.  We quit early to meet the rest of the non-skiers in our group at the Caribou’s après-ski – a necessary stop on any Tremblant trip.

The second night was the [estimated] 6th annual Oasis Party.  The temps in the condo were cranked up and the tropical music was blasting from the speakers.  Bartenders were serving pina colados, Gaylien sunrises (don’t ask) and any other island beverage you could ask for.

Sunday was a lazy day spent tidying up.  The majority in this group of friends has been doing these trips since the end of high school and every year the clean up gets less and less severe.  One may say we are even maturing a bit, much to the delight to the females in the group who usually have to deal with the mess created by the guys.

This weekend was another one for the books… see you at the Caribou Cup in April Tremblant!
